Visiting Densholme Farm November 2011 by Newland School for Girls, Hull
Year 7 visit to Densholme Farm - November 2011 Pupils visited the farm for the day and had a fabulous time. Worms were found, counted and fed to chickens. Eggs were collected and herb gardens delved into to make collages. The eggs were scrambled so that pupils could see the process from farm to fork. Although November is not an ideal time to visit a farm, the gardens had plenty of vegetables to see and identify with the expert help from Caroline from the Country Trust. Pupils also designed and built scarecrows and enjoyed every minute of the activity - all were fully involved. Everyone had a brilliant day and there is the potential for future farm visits. Denys and Caroline had planned a fun educational day and it was great to allow the pupils to get out of the city and explore the countryside. Thank you
