CDP listening to our clients who have achieved a degree of stability or recovery have found that they all have a strong desire to start putting something back into society. CDP has over the last year started to develop a Green Recovery Project in partnership with The Densholme Community Care Farm to help clients address this aspiration.
CDP clients have reported that the key points for them are how it has helped their personal development (self esteem, self confidence and team work) and the fact that they are contributing to a genuine commercial activity enhancing the viability of the farm, broadening the farm business and adding to the community services and amenities that others will then benefit from through their volunteering.
On a personal level they have all been surprised by just how quickly it has changed their thinking. While working on the farm, even on the very first day, a number reported going through the day not thinking about drugs. Once back home they have felt and talked about a natural feeling of being tired, relaxed and generally feeling good about themselves and a continuing lack of desire to use drugs. A general sense of wellbeing having replaced the usual craving for drugs.
CDP congratulates the Care Farm on becoming a social enterprise and look forward to a developing relationship for the benefit of our clients.
